

Visit Moku o Loʻe
The Center for Community Education offers a
unique opportunity for the community to visit Moku o Loʻe.
All programs require payment and signed waivers to participate. Due to safety considerations, children must be 5 years of age and older. All participants must be able to climb in & out of small boats, up & down several pier steps, navigate one to two steep hills, walk on uneven paved and non-paved pathways, & complete the entire ~ 1 mile tour at the pace of the group they are with.

EDUCATIONAL WALKING TOUR

The community is invited to take a two-hour guided tour of Moku o Loʻe, home of the Hawaiʻi Institute of Marine Biology from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
Tours are offered weekday mornings and afternoons, group sizes can range from 1-12 people, including
families with children (ages 5 and up),
individuals, & community groups.
Features a boat ride to the island, followed by a guided two-hour tour, walking 1 mile around Moku o Loʻe. Participants learn about the island's unique history, experience various research projects taking place, and have the opportunity to interact with invertebrates at our touch table and potential to see sharks in outdoor pen.
TOUR COST
Starting at a flat fee of $100 for the first 1-3 participants, plus $30 per additional participant.
If you are a Hawaiʻi resident or military, fee reduces to $15 per additional participant.
Maximum group size is 12 people per tour.
ʻOHANA SATURDAY
Weekend ʻohana tours are now being offered on the first Saturday of each month, from 9AM to 11AM.
Minium 3 people, maximum 12 people.
Hawaiʻi Resident rate is $20/person
Out-of-State rate is $25/person.
EXPEDITION TO MOKU O LOʻE
A custom lab program for individuals or families interested in a deeper understanding of the oceans and the chance to be a marine biologist for a day.

Participants become visiting marine biologists in this custom, 3-hour program.
Hands on activities vary depending on conditions and availability, but will typically include an invasive algae/invertebrate lab or a plankton lab followed by a walking tour.
LAB COST
Minimum 2 people, maximum 12 people.
Hawaiʻi Resident: $100/person
Out-of-State: $125/person
